Opekline od sunca često su praćene neugodnim svrbežom i zatezanjem kože. No kako stupnjevi crvenila, od blagog do opeklina, nisu isti, tako se razlikuju i stupnjevi neugodnog svrbeža.
Pakleni svrbež je dubok, bolan, gotovo pulsirajući, svrbež koji se javlja jedan do tri dana nakon opeklina od sunca, često na gornjem dijelu leđa i ramenima, kaže dermatologinja Melissa Piliang s jedne od najpoznatijih klinika u svijetu, u Clevelandu, piše Ordinacija.
Ljudi taj osjećaj opisuju kao da ih vatreni mravi grizu pod kožom ili nekontrolirani svrbež koji, kad se češete, uzrokuje probadajuću bol. Simptomi dolaze u valovima i obično se povlače unutar 48 sati.
“Svatko tko zbog opeklina od sunca mogao bi ih dobiti, ali čini se da je to češće kod ljudi svijetle puti i ljudi koji su bili na višim nadmorskim visinama gdje je sunce intenzivnije, kao i na planinama”, kaže doktorica Piliang.
Nije jasno zašto se točno javlja pakleni svrbež, ali to može biti zbog oštećenja živčanih završetaka na mjestu opekline, što izaziva pretjeranu reakciju.
Kućni lijekovi
Većinu slučajeva paklenog svrbeža moguće je liječiti kod kuće, ali ako imate mjehuriće na velikom dijelu tijela, groznicu, zimicu, vrtoglavicu ili smetenost, trebali biste posjetiti liječnika, savjetuje dr. Piliang.
Za ublažavanje simptoma predlaže:
- Koristite ibuprofen, aspirin ili naproksen za bol i upalu.
- Uzmite antihistaminik poput difenhidramina ili feksofenadina kako biste smanjili svrbež.
- Namočite ručnik ili krpu hladnom vodom i stavite je na opeklinu kako biste ublažili bol i svrbež.
- Nanesite 1% hidrokortizonsku kremu protiv svrbeža. Izbjegavajte masti, jer one stvaraju toplinu.
- Pokušajte se namakati u kupki od zobenih pahuljica kako biste umirili svrbež kože.
- Održavajte se dobro hidriranim jer opekline od sunca izvlače tekućinu iz ostatka vašeg tijela. Voda je najbolja, ali sportski napitak koji nadoknađuje elektrolit također može biti od pomoći.
“Pazite da se ne češete jer to uopće ne ublaži svrbež nego ga često i pogoršava. Također, možete stvoriti poderotine na koži koje mogu biti ulaz za bakterije i dovesti do infekcije”, napominje dr. Piliang.
Bolje spriječiti nego liječiti
Jedini način da spriječite pakleni svrbež je izbjegavanje opeklina od sunca. Dr. Piliang savjetuje da za zaštitu od sunca koristite kremu za sunčanje širokog spektra sa zaštitnim faktorom od najmanje 30 godina kada ste vani. Široki spektar znači da štiti od UVA i UVB zraka. Također, potražite vodootporne kreme za sunčanje.
“To ne znači da se uopće neće skinuti u vodi ili od znojenja nego da će se sporije isprati. Sloj nakon svakog kupanja uvijek se morate obnavljati”, kaže dr. Piliang.
